What should a broken drive shaft repair cost?

Usually, the Drive Shaft Repair costs will differ based on what caused the issue and how fast it can be repaired. If you just have to replace it, that would be anywhere from $500 to $1000. However, you can also expect the cost of the parts to be around half that number and the labor costs around $200. So even for a simple repair, you can end up with around $1500-$1700 invested in the Drive Shaft Repair process. That might not feel like much, but it can be an issue if you want to avoid expenses like this.

If you are only repairing a half section or half the shaft, then the prices will differ. This can cost anywhere from $350-$850 depending on location. Again, the cost of parts is around average for all repairs. with labor topping out the rest of the cost at $150-$250 depending on the service center, state, and taxes for that state.

With rear-wheel drive vehicles or 4-Wheel Drives, the cost will increase. On average the price for this kind of repair on this type of vehicle will come in somewhere in the range of $700-$1800

How to save money on this repair:

Do the research. It may be tempting to perform a driveshaft repair on your own. If you don’t however have the proper tools then attempting a drive shaft repair on your own will end up costing you more money in the long run.

Steps to take:

  1. Compare prices with your local repair shops.
  2. Ask for a quote. When you do ask for the parts that will need to be purchased and see if buying the parts on your own is a cheaper option.
  3. Ask the repair shop if they will discount the repair if you bundle it with other maintenance items. (always worth a shot)

We have been looking for a trustworthy auto repair shop since our auto shop owner retired years ago, we have *not* had a good experience until we found G&G Auto Repair. Hands down these folks are the best, competent, honest, and trustworthy shop that I have run across, these folks are reliable like our old shop. They have done great work on our van at fair prices, and that’s all I can ask for :) They also go above and beyond by texting all repair docs, assessments, and diagnostic results to my phone for review and approval. I really wish I had found them years ago. I highly recommend this shop!

I went to G&G to get my (damaged) oil pan replaced on my Toyota. However, when I got my car back, the technician had over tightened the drain plug leading to the gasket cracking, causing a fair amount of oil to leak out of my Toyota unbeknownst to me until I had gotten home. Fortunately, after a few phone calls, Shaun told me to return the vehicle after I told him the worsening severity of the situation, and my vehicle got promptly fixed after I had bought it back, and I commend them for owning up to their mistake. Overall, it seems they did a good job repairing the vehicle, and it’s priced a little on the higher side but for this state, and the overnight turnaround time it would say it’s more than reasonable. I would come back again.
